Objective authenticity in cultural tourism

thinking the unthinkableSamenvatting
Tourism studies carried out on the "Experience Economy" and on "Authenticity" are mostlyfounded on a subjectivist epistemology. In this article it is argued than an objectivist approach offers a valuable counterpart. This approach will be developed on the basis of the ideas as "Kruithof" who proposes a switch to aa realistic epistemology. "Musschenga" who analyses the concept of intriinsic quality and "Apostel" who pleads for an objective framework of moral abligations. Within this objectivistic oriented line of thought it is possible to qualify objectively the value of built heritage in order to contribute to the maintenance and the development of the material authenticity of the cultural tourism supply on the one, and to the contribution of real content for cultural experiences on the other hand.
