Universal TP Grillage : research report
Universal TP Grillage : research report
Samenvatting
This research investigates the feasibility and design of an Universal Transition Piece (TP) grillage for Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) to enhance the efficiency of transporting transition pieces in offshore wind projects. The study addresses the problem of designing unique TP grillages for each project, leading to inefficiencies in time, material, and cost. By analysing relevant parameters such as cargo specifications, vessel dynamics, and environmental conditions, this research identifies the critical factors influencing the grillage design. The report evaluates existing TP grillage designs, predicts future parameter values, and proposes an universal TP grillage design. The final design demonstrates improved reusability, cost-effectiveness, and load distribution efficiency, meeting the stringent requirements for stability and structural integrity. The report concludes that a universal TP grillage is feasible and provides a design example while recommending further research into specific force interactions within the grillage system.
