Samenvatting

The authors focus on the alignment between the task environment in a mission and the military role identity of the servicemen who are deployed. In this regard they distinguish between the warrior role and the peacekeeper role. Today's missions are fuzzy in as far as they are not fully combat oriented nor fully peacekeeping of character. Hence the lack of clarity among stakeholders, the military people who have to do the job in particular. The authors present data from surveys among Dutch military personnel who have been deployed to respectively Uruzgan and Kunduz.
