Understanding failures in intelligence estimates - UNPROFOR, the Dutch and the Bosnian-Serb attack on Srebrenica
Samenvatting
The author re-examines the the Bosnian-Serb attack on Srebrenica. His analysis focusses on the initial stage before the fall of the enclave. He tries to introduce a different perspective on the way key decision-makers of UNPROFOR in Srebrenica (Karremans), Sarajevo (Smith, Nicolai) and Zagreb (Janvier), as well as key-decision-makers in the Netherlands reacted to warning signals that might have said something about the probability, the timing, the character and the objectives of a Bosnian-Seb attack on the enclave.
