The European Union and the LGBT community
The European Union and the LGBT community
Samenvatting
LGBT stands for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual community. Currently there is no encompassing legislation for the LGBT community within the European Union. This means that in every member state there is different legislation when it comes to protection of the LGBT community, recognising same-sex couples and allowing same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples. The goal of this research is to show the diversity of legislation within the member states of the European Union when it comes to the LGBT community. Moreover, the aim of the research is to find out whether the European Union should, both legally and ethically, implement one legislation for the LGBT community in all the 28 member states.
