Comparing different types of stimuli: demonstrating the effects of exercise therapy along the movement continuum via video

Comparing different types of stimuli: demonstrating the effects of exercise therapy along the movement continuum via video

Samenvatting

The group carried out an extensive literature research in an attempt to answer the two main questions of the thesis project: "Can each level of the movement continuum be stimulated with exercise therapy?" and "Is video a good way to demonstrate this?" This goal was to use the research for producing two end products: a video and a written report.

Research was gathered on the subjects of the Movement Continuum and exercise therapy in order to answer the first main question. Exercises were chosen based on the findings and a video was made which demonstrated the exercises, which have an influence upon each level. Based on the group's results, evidence was found which supports the theory that each level of the Movement Continuum can be stimulated with exercise therapy. However, the research does not indicate that each of the nine levels can be directly stimulated via exercise therapy. The Sub-cellular level did not have sufficient evidence that it could be stimulated directly, as the only evidence found supporting the influence upon this level was not independent from the molecular level.

Research was gathered, which supports the argument that video is a good means for demonstrating these exercises. The implication occurs based on the fact that video provides multiple learning means (i.e. visual and audio).
