Samenvatting

This research investigates the possibility of implementing ACES into the current visual effects pipeline of Het Nieuwe Kader. Het Nieuwe Kader had the feeling that their pipeline was outdated. It did fulfill their needs, but they thought the work could be done better and more efficiently. Aside from implementation, accessibility and useability were kept in mind while developing a method for the employees to implement ACES themselves.
To understand the topic, extensive research has been done on what ACES is and the possibilities for implementing it in the pipeline. Several tests have been conducted among employees to test the accessibility and useability of the implementation.
The research and tests show that ACES could and should be implemented in the current visual effects pipeline of Het Nieuwe Kader; however, it should not be used in every production. Visual effects productions that combine real-life footage with Computer Generated (CG) elements benefit from using ACES, whereas entirely CG productions often do not.
This research concludes that ACES could be implemented in the current visual effects pipeline of Het Nieuwe Kader in a way that is useable for the employees. Aside from the two researched programs, ACES could be implemented in more software that Het Nieuwe Kader uses to benefit from its capabilities.
