The following research paper deals with the Russian tourist 's characteristics regarding their wants and needs. Furthermore, the destination branding, identity and image of the region of Twente was explored in order to gain an insight whether there is a match between the offerings of the destination and what the Russian tourists require. 142 respondents were surveyed about their preferences in a web-based questionnaire. Furthermore, Hof van Twente, which is a tourism office dealing with the marketing of the destination, was interviewed in order to gain an insight on the destination branding and identity.
