Samenvatting

The Ministry of Agriculture of Rwanda (MINAGRI) launched the Crop Intensification Program (CIP) in 2007 with the aim of making agricultural systems more commercially-oriented in order to increase productivity, self-sufficiency; reduce poverty and improve food security outcomes. This program was implemented bythe Rwanda Agriculture Board (RAB) through crop specialisation, increased fertilizer and quality seeds use, land use consolidation among farmers to raise productivity, provision of efficient extension service delivery to farmers, improvement of post-harvest handling and storage mechanisms and better coordination of farmers’ activities.
