This report represents research on the current state of tourism and city hospitality in Amsterdam, which is referred to as over tourism. There is an increasing pressure on the city and its inhabitants, hence sustainable tourism development is needed, with the use of socio-cognitive mindfulness for visitors. The aim is to decrease the disturbances, stimulate conscious behaviour and encourage cultural exploration. The outcome of this, is an increased visitors' experience and more satisfied residents in Amsterdam. The MRQ is "How can socio-cognitive mindfulness play a role in sustainable tourism development and what is the impact on residents in Amsterdam?"
