Making toys by yourself! A thesis on the importance of play and how to make your own toys
Samenvatting
â How can toys be made for young children with (severe) disabilities, in the Zambian context, and be introduced by photo-resource and workshop to the local healthcare workers and caregivers?â The conducted methods are: video analysis, information gathering and literature search. The video analysis contained information from Zambia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Uganda, which gave an insight on the availability of resources. We gathered more information on the Zambian context through multiple conversations conducted with different therapists/organisations from South-Africa, Uganda, and Zambia (are all familiar with the Zambian context or with the creation of self-made toys). As literature search has been done to identify the importance of play and toys. This has resulted in: a thesis and a photobook and an outline of a workshop - both usable in Zambia.
