Samenvatting

The Awash Basin Authority created with support from Addis Ababa University the water allocation plan for the whole Awash Basin in Ethiopia since 2015. The allocation plan is created to have a fair distribution of water from the Awash River to all water users in the Awash Basin. The allocation plan is created because downstream water users of the Awash Basin experienced insufficient access of water as compared to the upstream water users. A good allocation plan improves the transparency on utilizing natural resources and helps the commercial irrigators to plan their estates.
